Dr. Naim Alkhouri is a leading expert in gastroenterology and hepatology. Dedicated to providing the highest-quality patient care for all those in his practice, Dr. Alkhouri currently serves as:
- Director of the Steatotic Liver Program at Northshore Gastroenterology
- Director of Research at the Clinical Research Institute of Ohio (CRIOH)
- Chief Academic Officer at Summit Clinical Research in San Antonio, Texas
Before holding these positions, he was the Director of the Metabolic Health Center at the Texas Liver Institute and an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Texas (UT) Health in San Antonio.
Dr. Alkhouri completed his gastroenterology and transplant hepatology training at the Cleveland Clinic, where he later became an Assistant Professor of Medicine and directed the Metabolic Liver Disease Clinic. As a leading authority in NASH therapeutics, he serves as a consultant to numerous pharmaceutical companies and as a Principal Investigator for several global NASH trials. He is also an active member of the AASLD NASH Special Interest Group (SIG).
With more than 300 publications and numerous presentations at major medical conferences, Dr. Alkhouri is a decorated researcher. Among his accolades is the American College of Gastroenterology Junior Faculty Development Award for his work on diagnosing nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. His primary areas of expertise include steatotic liver disease, metabolic liver diseases, and viral hepatitis.
